My role involves detailed client consultations, space planning, and creating custom furniture designs that maximize functionality and aesthetic appeal. In addition to my design skills, I excel in project management, from initial concept through to final installation. I also leverage my expertise in digital design tools and client communication to ensure each project meets high standards of quality and satisfaction.
‘The Prom Cellar’ secured a permanent location for The Millfields Trust annual pop up prom shop. I was asked to design and transform the blank cellar space into a prom shop that appealed to the teenagers of Plymouth. Many teenagers feel the pressure of buying expensive garments when it comes to their proms, and the aim of the ‘The Prom Cellar’ was to erase this pressure and show that second hand garments can be just as luxurious. The space was developed within budget of £1000 and had to feel exciting and fresh for teenagers of all socioeconomic backgrounds. The shop was designed as part of a social enterprise and continues to run entirely based on donations, therefore I had to design marketing materials and a brand identity that will be timeless. The launch success of the Prom Cellar led to local news coverage and has continues to make positive impacts on the teenagers of Plymouth:
I was requested to collaborate with Harmony Home Designs on a totally unique interior design project for a 1920s barge boat that required an Interior design refresh. Harmony invited me to participate in the project so that I could contribute my own Interior Design and surveying skills. The client requested a maritime theme in the bedroom, with chest trunks rather than wardrobes. I was responsible for acquiring marine standard fabrics that would bring in the authentic 1920s look.
Pioneer Accommodation is a self-created concept developed for regeneration company Urban Splash, who are seeking a rising interior designer to collaborate on an innovative commercial venture. The task is to transform level 03, The Civic Centre, a historic landmark in Plymouth, into rental units for apprentice students in Plymouth. The location which has the potential to become a vibrant hub, needs to be modern, exciting, and appealing to young professionals. At least 8 apartments will be completed, along with a new communal area and study zone. The design focuses on meeting the needs of the users while subtly honouring the City of Plymouth.
This project allowed me to delve into various aspects of graphic design through the creation of a trend-forecasting inspired magazine. I gained skills in visual styling, editorial design, and layout formatting, focusing on the subject of trend-led research into compelling magazine content. From conceptualizing and designing magazine content and pages to incorporating trend insights into the visual narrative, this project deepened my understanding of the link between graphic design and trend forecasting. It expanded my creative vocabulary and enhanced my ability to transform contextual research into design solutions.
As a Project Assistant to Marie Hewitt at the Window Dresser, I managed client consultations, measured spaces, coordinated with industry professionals, and handled social media and website design. I also learned SEO and Google Analytics. I created concept boards, sourced products, and styled the final designs. These experiences enhanced my ability to manage projects, collaborate with clients, and adapt to different design briefs.
